    How to Use Windows 10 to Open MDF Files?


    Familiarity with MDF files can improve your productivity by allowing you to access crucial data stored on SQL servers rapidly. Consequently, the best option for opening these files is to extract them from a reliable SQL Server Management Studio MDF file opener.

    1. Go to the official SysTools MDF Viewer website and select “Download Now.”
    2. After installing the program on your desktop, select Open from the menu on the left.
    3. From the pop-up box, choose your MDF file and click Open.
    4. Under Scan Mode, choose between Quick Scan and Advanced Scan.
    5. Select the appropriate MDF version for your selected file under Select version.
    6. If you are unsure of the version of your file, check the box for Auto Detect SQL Server File (.mdf) and click OK.
    7. Once scanning is complete, click Close and choose Yes.
    8. select database choices such as Tables, Views, or Stored Procedures from the left panel to inspect the file’s contents.

    • 2019 SQL Server:
    • C:\Program Files\SQL Server for MicrosoftData from MSSQL15.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL
    • SQL Server version 2017:
    • C:\Program Files\SQL Server for MicrosoftData from MSSQL14.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL
    • 2016 SQL Server:
    • C:\Program Files\SQL Server for MicrosoftSQLServer\MSSQL\DATA\MSSQL13.
