Call recordings are becoming more practical because we often need to record and keep important talks for legal, personal, or skilled reasons.
Many smartphones have a feature that lets you record calls. But what if you need to play back a call that wasn’t taped or saved? Is there a way to obtain an unrecorded call recording?
This blog will look at some tips for doing the same thing. Let’s start.
Can you listen to old calls without recording them?
Not really. If the call wasn’t recorded, there is usually no way to get back to the conversation after it’s over. However, you can access a backup of your call records through your Google account.
Some service providers offer features like call logging, which may record the length of the call, the time, and the date but not the actual talk.
There are, however, some ways to listen to old recordings and keep them for later use:
Method 1: Use apps that record phone calls
Many call-recording apps are available for Android and iOS, making it easy to record phone calls.
In addition, many of these apps let you record calls automatically in high quality, which can be handy if you forget to press the record button.
We’ve written out the steps for the Cube ACR app, which is easy to use and works well.
- Put the app on your computer and open it.
- Press on Give PERMISSIONS to let the person get to the choices they need.
- To start or stop recording the call, go to the home page and tap the microphone button. The videos are also on the same page.
Method 2: Turn on the built-in auto-call recording feature.
Many devices have a built-in auto-call recorder, which you can use if you don’t want to use third-party apps, are worried about your privacy, or don’t want your call records to slip away again.
Note: Smartphones from different brands have different Settings because they don’t all have the same choices. So, ensure you have the correct settings on your device before changing any of them. The steps were done on a Samsung S20 FE 5G running Android 13 One UI 5.1, as shown in the pictures below.
Go to Settings and tap on Apps. Then tap on The Samsung App Settings.
Click on “Auto record calls,” then “On,” and finally “All calls.”
Method 3: Use voicemail
You could also use your voicemail service. Setting up voicemail on an Android device is easy, and you have several choices.
You can use the voicemail service with your phone plan, Google Voice, or look into other third-party apps offering message features.

Method 4: Use a second gadget
You can record the call with a different gadget. One more phone, a tablet, or a particular recording gadget could do the job.
Start a call with the person you want to record on one device. On the second device, turn on the loudspeaker and record the talk.
Method 5: Store things in the cloud
Use cloud storage like Google Drive or Dropbox to keep your recordings safe and free up space on your device.
You can also get a copy of a recorded phone call this way. To keep your files safe, encrypt your files before you put them in the cloud.
How do you record a call from any number?
You can record calls with the built-in dialer on your phone or a third-party contact app.
However, the recording calls option is only available on a few dialers and carrier services.
Note: The other person will also know when you start recording a phone call on the Google Dialer app.
How do you call someone else and listen to their calls without them knowing?
You can’t listen in on someone else’s calls without their permission. Also, that’s against their privacy rights and could get you in big trouble with the law. You should protect other people’s privacy and not try to listen in on their conversations.
But there are many reasons to listen in on someone else’s chat. For example, parents might want to ensure their kids aren’t talking to someone who could hurt them. Many third-party apps, like Automatic Call Recorder, Spyic, or mSpy, can do this.
How long do phone companies keep call logs?
Telecommunications companies keep call records to follow the law or meet with requests from law enforcement, as well as for billing and operational reasons.
Phone companies usually keep call logs for a certain amount of time, from a few months to a year. The length of time depends on the company’s rules and the laws in the area.
Can the police listen in on old phone calls?
Yes, police and other law enforcement agencies can request to listen in on phone calls as part of an investigation into a crime. Usually, they need a court order or warrant to do this. The process usually starts with getting permission from a judge or officer based on solid evidence and following the law.
Recording any number’s call might be tempting, but it’s important to consider privacy and follow the law.
