In recent years, people have become more polite in using pronouns in spoken and written languages because they acknowledge different gender identities.

Normally, these email messages are conveyed with an email endorsement, setting out the sender’s identity and position. However, one of the easiest ways of affirming other people’s identities in your emails is by adding pronouns to your email signature. Below, we’ll show you how to add the same on Microsoft Outlook.

How do you add pronouns to your email signature?

Email Signatures are messages that bring a personal and professional level to emails. Apart from name, job title, and contact information, they instantly get a person’s attention.

Some popular online services are the email signature generators like WiseStamp, etc.

    1. Go to the WiseStamp email signature generator official website, input your picture, and then enter your Name, Title, Phone number, Email, and all the information you desire.
    2. Go to Add a field and choose Pronouns from the drop-down menu.
    3. Scroll up and, in the text field provided, please, enter your appropriate pronouns.
    4. Once you’ve finished, click the OK, I’m done button in the right pane, which was covered earlier in this tutorial.
    • Your Name (She/Her/Hers)
    • Your Name (He/Him/His)
    • Your Name (They/Them/Theirs)

If you include your pronouns below your title and company name, it is best to include a label such as Pronouns or My pronouns to make it clear for the reader what the list signifies.

    Why Use Signature With Pronouns?

Doing so can set a norm and encourage others to do the same.

Declaring your pronouns can let people know how you identify, minimizing the chance of being misgendered or outed. It also gives others a space to express themselves better.

Eliminating assumptions already creates a safe space for open communication.

Can an Employer Require Pronouns in an Email Signature?

No one needs to add pronouns to their email signatures. Individuals can refuse to include the same if it goes against their viewpoints.

Here, the paramount considerations should be freedom of speech and choice.

Why Not Include Pronouns in Email Signature?

Now that you know how to use pronouns in your email signature, take this small step, and create a more welcoming environment where everyone’s gender identity is respected.
