It’s critical to update the Android software often to add new features and keep your smartphone safe. However, there may be cases in which a recent update isn’t working well, isn’t suitable, or isn’t what you wanted, in which case you might wish to uninstall or roll it back. In this post, we’ll look at several methods to help you quickly remove or erase software updates from your Android device.

How to Uninstall Software Updates on Android?

Published by Google or the device manufacturer, Android system upgrades consist of bug fixes, security patches, and new features. However, reversing to an earlier version of Android is usually not a smart idea as it may cause instability, data loss, or even device malfunction. However, you may need to uninstall the system update if it’s causing you notable issues.

Note: The steps for removing system updates may differ depending on your smartphone’s producer and Android version.

How to Uninstall Updates from Apps on an Android Device?

In contrast to system updates, uninstalling apps is commonly an easy step that doesn’t require additional procedures or data backups. However, it’s crucial to understand that removing app updates will restore the app to its old state, which may result in data loss or app-related issues.

Method 1: Using the Settings App

This solution works with specific phones, kinds, and apps.

    1. Launch the Settings application.
    2. Press the Apps icon.
    3. Choose the installed app by scrolling down to it and tapping on it to remove the updates.
    4. Press the trio of dots located in the upper-right corner.
    5. Click on Uninstall updates.
    6. When led to, verify that action by tapping OK.

Method 2: Installing an older version of the app

To install an old version of the program, adhere to the instructions listed below:

    1. To remove the updates, uninstall the program from which you wish to remove them.
    2. Visit the official APKmirror website.
    3. Find the app by tapping the search button.
    4. Next to the app version, tap the download button.
    5. After swiping down, select SEE AVAILABLE DOWNLOADS.
    6. Choose the version that you like.
    7. Click the download button.
    8. After swiping down, select DOWNLOAD APK.
    9. Open the Files application on your gadget.
    10. Click the Downloads button.
    11. Press the three dots located to the right of the APK file name.
    12. Press the Install button.
    13. You’ll be asked to enable installing programs from this source in the settings.
    14. Press the Settings button.
    15. Activate the Permit from this source switch.
    16. When prompted, tap Install.

How to Uninstall an Android System Update?

On Android, there’s no easy way to remove system updates. See the instructions below to remove the operating system refresh on an Android device.

    Method 1: Factory Reset

Please be aware that your smartphone will reset to its original version upon purchase, wiping out all your data. Thus, before proceeding, make sure everything is backed up.

    1. Launch the Settings application.
    2. Select Additional Settings by tapping on them.
    3. After swiping down, click Reset and Back Up.
    4. Press the “Reset phone” button.
    5. To erase all data, tap it.
    6. When prompted, enter your password for the lock screen.
    7. To verify your action, tap on Erase data.

    Method 2: Using Recovery Mode

Before proceeding, it is important to completely back up your device’s data because removing system upgrades can lead to data loss.

    1. After turning off your device, hit the power and volume down buttons.
    2. Press and hold the volume keys to enter Recovery Mode.
    3. Press the power button to choose it.
    4. Now, navigate to Wipe Data/Factory Reset with the volume keys.
    5. To select, press the power button.
    6. Turn on your smartphone now.

    2. Press the Apps icon.
    3. Press and hold the Google Play services icon.
    4. Press the trio of dots found in the upper-right corner.
    5. Click on Uninstall updates.
